A seized caliper causes the pads on one wheel to stay pressed against the rotor permanently — the symptoms are uneven braking (pulling to one side), that one wheel overheating after a normal drive, and one-sided pad wear where one side is much thinner than the other. A seized caliper is a safety issue that requires immediate attention; worn pads can be monitored and planned for during the next service.
