Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
RepairFair ("we", "us", "our") operates the website repairfair.live (the "Service"). The Service provides AI-assisted car repair cost estimates. For privacy enquiries, contact us at privacyrepairfair@gmail.com.
2. What data we collect
Account data (optional)
If you create an account: your email address, hashed password, and display name. We also store your language and region preference.
Garage & history
Vehicles you save to your garage and the repair queries you run while logged in, so we can show you your history across sessions.
Shared quotes
If you use the Share feature, the estimate data, car label, and your original query are stored with a short random ID so the link remains accessible.
Usage data & IP address
We log your IP address in memory for rate-limiting purposes only (max 20 AI requests per hour). This is not persisted to our database.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage (pages visited, device type, country). Google Analytics may set cookies. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics.
3. How we use your data
- To provide and improve the Service (repair estimates, diagnostics, garage, history).
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To prevent abuse of the AI features via rate limiting.
- To understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Third-party services
OpenAI
RepairFair maintains its own internal databases of vehicles (27,000+ models), repair labour times, and parts prices. When you submit a query, your message and selected vehicle data are sent to OpenAI alongside the relevant excerpts from our databases. OpenAI's role is to interpret your query and match it to the correct entries in our data - all pricing figures come from our own database, not from OpenAI. OpenAI processes this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy. We have enabled the “no training” API setting so your inputs are not used to train OpenAI models.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 for anonymous usage statistics. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Railway
The Service is hosted on Railway.app. Your data is stored on Railway infrastructure. See Railway's Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies & local storage
- Session cookie: Set when you log in to keep you authenticated. Cleared on logout.
- Local storage: We store your language and region preferences locally in your browser.
- Google Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics 4 for aggregate tracking.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
6. Data retention
- Account data is retained until you delete your account.
- Shared quotes are retained indefinitely so links remain valid.
- Query history is retained for logged-in users until they delete it or their account.
7. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
If you are located in the European Union, UK, or California, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Data portability (receive your data in a structured format).

8. Children
RepairFair is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
